Case Study: Scouts
Bringing modern scouting to life with a night of fundraising under the stars
The Scout Association wanted to raise awareness of its strategic aims and re-brand; change perceptions of The Scouts; raise funds and attract positive PR for modern scouting through an evening of inspiring activities.
- What we did
We proposed an event that complements what The Scout Association does best - a night of camping under the stars. Our recommended venue offered significant outdoor space for pre-dinner ‘Scout-led’ activities, and a marquee that could be themed to feel as if you were dining out in the wild. We also proposed wood carving entertainment, a fire pit for baking canapés and tin mugs for tableware or a goodie bag item.
- What we delivered
Guests were greeted into the ‘Scout camp’ and given a Scout necker in the area where wood carving, foraging and baking bread over the fire were taking place. A three-course dinner prepared with foraged ingredients was served under the stars in the forest-themed marquee. A live and online auction was also part of the festivities, plus guests were encouraged to pledge for the ‘gross eats’ challenge.
Worldspan managed full project logistics from concept development to location research, site inspections, catering management, budget management, registration, production, health and safety and on-site management. The event was so well received, it’s hoped it will become a legacy event that will continue to raise funds and awareness for years to come.
The event raised a significant amount of funding for the Scout Association.
“You were brilliant, and we are massively grateful for your professionalism, expertise and brilliant co-ordination.”
